The Machine is Us/ing Us

This is a very good video I found that goes about explaining the concept of web 2.0, and how the Internet is evolving. Enjoy.

Organize Your Time

Organizing yourself to make sure that you stick with deadlines, and complete your daily tasks is vital. There are thousands of successful people who believe that by organizing yourself, you attain success, or, you attain success faster. I for one believe this is true, even though organization, and keeping organized is a giant task for me, which at the moment, I’m failing. Don’t fear, there’s loads of help at hand. There are many sites out there that can help you organize your time better, such as Google Calendar, and MyNoteWall. I for one, use MyNoteWall in conjunction with my diary in order to organize myself. MyNoteWall is good, because it’s easy and simple to use, and has a lot of use for such a basic system. I’ve heard that it’s undergoing massive change too, according to it’s blog, all good, looks like they’re heading to become a very big and complex organizing system.

Organize yourself for everyday. Every hour. It’s the only way you can use your time efficiently in the fast-paced world of today.

Think BIG

A common mistake by web masters is that they fail to see potential. Something which is vital for something as viral as a website. The potential for a website can be massive, yet unbeknown to the web master, whom may underestimate this factor, and either seize developing the website, or sell it, because it isn’t showing quick progress.

I myself, am very impatient when it comes to web developing. I just can’t hold onto a site for a long time - the only sites which I can do this with are blogs, but even then, I would still sell if someone offered me a decent enough amount.

This topic is very much related to web masters undervaluing their site, and not seeing exactly how much it could be worth instead of using the silly 10x mechanism talked about in Google Page Rank Obsession post. There are a lot of web masters out there who do this, especially in the Digital Point community. It is seen as an ample way of valuating a site, something which I utterly disagree with. If this business wasn’t full of rogue people just out there to make a quick buck, then things would be better in the sense of a site’s valuation.

In some ways, this undervaluation of sites is a positive thing. Those who know the true value of a website, and have the capital to back it up can make nice profits buying and selling websites.

Overall, it’s vital that web masters begin to see the true potential of their websites, and not ignore the fact that their site has a massive potential to grow.

The Dedicated Blogger

Blogging is something that is actually pretty hard to do, in the sense that, you have to have dedication all the way through, and have to really enjoy the topic of your blog. If your half-hearted about your blog, it won’t get far, I can tell you that now. You’ll get bored in the first week of blogging. Blogging has to be a passion of yours. You should have to want to speak your mind and thoughts. Forget about everything else. Forget about the fact that your blog is making money, forget about the fact that your blog is getting a good amount of traffic - it’s your blog, a place where you release your thoughts and feelings.

Sometimes, bloggers get “mind-block”, which means that they can’t think of anything to write on, and thus leave their blogs, and they don’t get updated in weeks. This is blogging failure.

You have to be dedicated with your blog. The earliest stages of a blog are the hardest. Keep at it for a few months, and I’m sure your blog will become a very popular one, no matter what the topic. Once your blog is noticed in the blogosphere, it will become increasingly easier to write posts, as you’ll have a lot of things going on that revolve around your blog. Make it happen. Get your blog out there and known. Achieve success.

The power of link exchanging

Link exchange is a very widely underestimated way of building traffic and popularity. You can actually build up a good level of traffic by linking to decent, regularly updated blogs and sites, just by using an attractive anchor which will also help the spiders identify your site. The power of a link is massive. Links are, in essence, make your site important to search engines. More specific, links to your sites that have specific anchor texts. Search engines pick up on this, and list your site in accordance with what people have linked to it with - what works they’ve actually linked. For example, if I had a site, which everyone linked to with the words “Making Money Online“, this would help search engines such as Google identify my site to be in that category, and list it there. The more links with that anchor, the stronger my position in the search engines becomes.

It’s always good to link to relevant sites, and have them link back to you - it helps with both traffic and Google PR, what is Pagerank. Link with your friends, family, colleagues, and build a network. It’ll help everyone with developing their sites.

I recently came across this new site, with a very interesting script. It’s called MyNoteWall. Basically, it’s a site that gives you your own area in order to plan tasks that you have to do in the future. It allows you to set deadlines, and plan out detailed descriptions and resources. Best of all, the notes actually appear graphically on a page, and can be moved round. It’s actually a pretty dynamic way of organizing yourself.

They currently have a premium membership system, which allows you to post unlimited notes on your wall. A pretty novel idea.

In my opinion, worth a try.

Google PageRank Obsessiveness

It’s come to my attention, that when valuating a site’s worth, Pagerank is one thing that people see a need for. If there’s no Pagerank, it’s not worth much. This is utter nonsense. Webmasters around the globe are so obsessed with Pagerank now, that it’s practically on par with traffic and revenue now. Yes, I know it shows your site’s importance and popularity because it’s a measure of the level of backlinks - but still, it shouldn’t be the deciding factor in the value of a site, otherwise, Google then just controls the worth of your site in a way.

Potential is another thing that people seem to skip. Yes, I know potential isn’t always measured correctly, but if you’ve managed to find a big gap in the market, then your site would rack up enormous potential; but people seem to not care, and just use the usual 10x monthly revenue pattern I’ve seen over and over. THAT’S NOT HOW A SITE SHOULD BE VALUED.

A site should be valued on loads of factors. Traffic, revenue, potential, design, content/product. There’s a much longer list, but they’re some of the main factors. I would never sell that 10x monthly revenue if I thought my site was worth much more, and had enough potential to grow exponentially. People don’t see that sites have potential to grow, and so are worth more than just 10x monthly revenue.

What are your thoughts on website valuation?

The AGLOCO Toolbar!

Wow, talk about unique ideas. AGLOCO is one for sure. It’s based around providing its users with cash - yep, that’s all it’s about. All you do, is install AGLOCO’s viewbar, which displays an ad on your screen. Keep this ad up for a certain amount of time, and you get paid for it! Pure genius! The best thing is, it’s easy and quick to sign up, and you can refer people to it to get even more (you earn from their viewing time!). It’s worth a try, so give AGLOCO a try.

Myspace Marketing

There are a lot of ways to take advantage of massive social networking sites such as Myspace, Hi5, and Tagged. There are people who offer marketing solutions based on spreading word of your site/product using their profiles which have amassed thousands of members from these social networks. Sometimes, marketing like this can be very effective, as social networks such as Myspace have groups, and it’s possible to search out a possible demographic to target. This makes the marketing very effective, as you are targeting the right kind of people for your site/product.

I’ve personally tried out Myspace marketing, and I have to say, it wielded some good results for an arcade I used to own. I purchased a package of bulletins, and comments (messages aren’t worth getting), and got them targeted to a certain audience (which were young, avid gamers). It worked out well, and gave the arcade a steady stream of traffic.

Sometimes though, the marketing doesn’t wield good enough results. If this happens, look at what your trying to market, and see if it corresponds with the audience you tried to target. A lot of the time, the way your bulletin or comments are worded could be the reason for poor results. Change, and try again. Rinse, and repeat, until you get it right. You’ll then have a very effective, and powerful way of advertising your website.

Today, I interviewed the owner of No Doubt Marketing, Justin Stewart, a very interesting person to talk to indeed! We had a look into his new business, No Doubt Marketing, which was born in April 2007. No Doubt Marketing concentrates on providing SEO content solutions to its clients, helping them rank their websites higher in search engine results.

Taiyab: Hello Justin. How are you?

Justin: I’m well. How are you?

Taiyab: I’m fine thank you. Thank you for allowing this interview. Now, to begin, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Justin: It’s my pleasure! My name is Justin Stewart and I live at the end of I95 right by Canada, in Maine. I wasn’t even in kindergarten yet when I started on computers. I began freelancing when I was 14 and have been doing it ever since!

Taiyab: It sounds like you’ve had a very early start Justin! So, you’ve started this new company of yours, No Doubt Marketing - give us a little background knowledge on that.

Justin: Well, like I mentioned, I started freelancing when I was 14 on the major freelance sites. Back in April of this year, I decided to see if I could make this into a full time job and do it for the rest of my life. On April 24th, No Doubt Marketing was founded with the vision of offering low cost solutions, such as copywriting, web content writing, custom writing, SEO Consultation, blog management and much more. It has been growing exponentially since April, and I don’t see it stopping its growth anytime soon!

Taiyab: So your business concentrates on providing SEO solutions and quality content, correct? I personally have somewhat been examining the growth of No Doubt Marketing; and it indeed has been growing exponentially since you opened it in April. What do you think sets you out from the competition?

Justin: Yes, you are correct. Our solutions will help any busy webmaster who doesn’t have time to research keywords, write content, manage blogs, have a linking campaign and more. In my honest opinion, I think the growth of No Doubt Marketing can be attributed to its care for the customer. No Doubt Marketing responds quickly to any questions and cater to the needs of the customer.

Justin: It is honestly not ALL about putting dollars in a wallet or bank account. It’s about helping the webmasters achieve their goals.

Taiyab: So, someone could hire you, and you would go out and find good solid keywords for them, and write content based on those keywords? I guess you achieve a lot of satisfaction out of helping webmasters achieve their goals, is this what motivated you to start No Doubt Marketing?

Justin: You are correct. If a busy webmaster says: “I need some help with my site. I need some content but I don’t know what keywords to target,” then I will do the keyword research myself and determine the best keywords to target based on many different factors. I’ve always loved helping people. I’m the kind of guy that would empty my pockets for the guy on the corner that holds a sign saying: “Will work for food.” I just love to help out when I can. For that reason, yes, it was a major deciding factor in starting No Doubt Marketing.

Taiyab: It sounds like you’re a very noble person. How about you write some FREE content up for me? Only kidding.

Do you believe that there’s a big demand for your services?

Justin: You’ve helped me out a lot! One good turn deserves another, right?

I honestly think there is a huge demand for No Doubt Marketing’s services. There are plenty of large webmaster forums out there with plenty of busy webmasters. I also think there is a huge untapped demand for my services. What about the people sitting at home saying: “I’d love to start a website. I have a great idea! I just don’t have the time to do it!” I would love to target each demand, and that is something I’m working on. There are also many small business around wondering how they can get to the first page in the search engines. To them, I’d say: Content is king!

Taiyab: Heh, well, your confidence and nobility never seize to amaze me. It seems you have your plans set for No Doubt Marketing. How about those who are looking to start up a business of their own, but are hesistating? Do you have any words for them?

Justin: I say go for it. My grandfather, who is like my father, always say “You can do anything you set out to do!” I would sit on this computer for 12 or more hours a day, just trying to make No Doubt Marketing known. It’s hard work, but it did work. In the end, I’m very satisfied, I have had fun so far and I’m looking forward to the future. And that is what really matters. If you’re hesitating, stop and just go for it!

Taiyab: Very encouraging words there Justin. Oh, and just before we conclude, a have one burning question.

Justin: Thank you for the kind words. What’s your question?

Taiyab: Where did the name “No Doubt Marketing” originate from?

Justin: Well, I had “No Doubt” that my business would succeed!

Taiyab: Brilliant! I appreciate the time you spent for this interview. Any final words?

Justin:
I’d just like to thank everyone that has helped No Doubt marketing such as my grandfather, yourself, Pete, Simon, Andy, Dave and anyone else I’ve forgotten off the top of my head. My sincerest thanks!

And of course, thank you for the interview! It’s been great!

Taiyab: No problem Justin. Thank you for a great insight into No Doubt Marketing.

That’s the end of the interview. I personally think No Doubt Marketing offers a very affordable and useful service. Definitely worth a try if you’re into niche marketing.
