Attributes of a good blog

If you’ve ever run a blog, and saw no success, you’d probably start questioning why your blog wasn’t successful - producing an array of different reasons. A good, successful blog, has key features; and here is a list of them so that you can apply them to your blog and see if it fits the bill.

1) Content is key. This phrase is coined everywhere - and it’s VERY true. The basics of your blog is its content. Forget about its flashy design and navigation, it’s not really needed. As long as the blog is easily accessible and smooth to navigate on, it’s fine. Content needs to be interesting, and engaging to its audience, so that your audience stays around and subscribes to your blog if they like it that much.

2) Update regularly. This is a pretty difficult task if you’re not passionate about your blog’s subject. I always advise people to create a blog only on what really interests them, so that content is not a problem. Content needs to come in regularly. Just look at very successful blogs such as JohnChow and TechCrunch. They update VERY regularly (especially TechCrunch).

3) Make your site accessible. If your blog is hard to navigate, and it’s difficult to find content within it, then may be you need to re-assess your blog’s layout. Make things easy to find. People get fed up if they don’t find what they’re looking for in a matter of seconds.

4) Targetting audiences. When writing, keep in mind your audience. Are you trying to attract uptight businessmen? Or may be the casual entrepreneur? You decide, and cater your writing style towards that.

I hope these points help you in creating a much more successful, and healthy blog. Keep in mind that your audience are real people, with real interests, so just cater towards their interests and you should find success.
